Thanks to Morris 'Jud' Detter	Thanks to Scholarship Donors
The Nickerson Alumni Association exists today due to the hard work of Morris “Jud” Detter, his wife Claire and close friend Pearl Theede. Jud had long envisioned an organization made up of alumni of Nickerson High School. That organization would provide funds for scholarships to students so they might further their education by attending the colleges of their choices. In addition, Jud hoped that it would help foster a pride in Nickerson, especially in Nickerson High School and camaraderie among the alumni. The group was formally established in 1961 and provided the first two scholarships in 1969. Thanks to the vision and dedication of Jud, the association is now approaching 600 scholarships awarded to deserving Nickerson High School graduates. Many of these students could not have gone to schools of higher education without the help of the association. All owe a special thank you to Jud and his memory. Mission Statement	Nickerson Alumni Association members have included graduates from the following schools:
The Nickerson Alumni Association was established in 1961 to raise money for the sole purpose of providing scholarship dollars to deserving graduating seniors from Nickerson High School so those selected individuals are more financially able to continue their education at the college level.
